Ship lithium batteries the correct way

Ship Lithium batteries the correct way

There are many variations when it comes to Lithium batteries. Even though there are ‘only’ 4 UN numbers related to both lithium-ion batteries and lithium metal batteries, there are much more factors that have influence, such as the levels of power capacity (Watt hours) and regulations. Therefore, it can be quite complex to find out how to ship them in the right way.

How to find the correct shipping method for lithium batteries?

To keep it as simple and easy as possible, we have created an overview that includes all possibilities for all modes of transport. In one clear view, you can find information on packing instructions, quantities, requirement of shipper’s declaration, labeling and more. The overview presents this information per UN number, variant, and regulation.

On top of that, from the 1st of April 2022, the Excepted versions, according to Section II of their packing instruction in Air (ICAO/IATA), are no longer available for loose cells/batteries.
